Unity of Will, Strength in the Time of Need

Beijing E-C Translation (BEC), one of the largest localization and translation service providers in Asia, has quickly raised money to help those affected by the catastrophic Chinese earthquake.
May 12, 2008 was a heartbreaking day for everyone throughout China, as central China experienced one of the worst earthquakes in recent history. Striking in the mid-afternoon, this powerful quake devastated a region of small cities and towns set amongst the steep hills north of Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu. Tens of thousands of people died, buildings were flattened, and hundreds of thousands people lost their homes in an instant; the victims were in urgent need of help.
The news stunned people across the globe. Staff at E-C Translation immediately took action and voluntarily contributed their best effort. At an internal forum our staff discussed what the victims needed and how to best help them. We sent out our collected monetary donations and batch after batch of materials. Some of our colleagues even made the trip downtown to donate blood. Everybody was extremely concerned about the progress of the quake relief effort and was ready to assist in any way possible.
“I am very proud of our staff”, said the president of E-C Translation, Dr. James Wei. “They have great sympathy, and are doing their best to contribute their love to the quake-hit Chinese population. I believe that with the strength, hope, love and unified support from all over China and the world, all the difficulties will be overcome and we are very confident that we will embrace a more promising future soon.”
So far, domestic and international donations have reached 34.79 billion yuan (5.04 billion U.S. dollars), and the number is increasing every day. As the rescue and reconstruction work is a long-term project, we will continue to pay great attention to the affected areas and offer our help wherever needed.
